canucks89
Hey everyone! I have a quick question: I've been doing practice MCATs and I haven't been doing that well. On the PS section I got 50%.. what is the scaled score for that? My Kaplan book says 8, but AAMC says 6. Is Kaplan's percentile range a bit higher because their tests are harder? Sorry for the stupid question, but I got really freaked out when I saw my scaled score Thanks all!
gb35
I find that my raw, percentage scores are much much higher on AAMC tests than on Kaplan tests, but my scaled scores are pretty similar for both. My guess is that Kaplan makes their tests harder to better prepare you, but takes this into account when giving you your scaled score.
numero0121407
Try looking at the number of questions you get right. I got this estimated scale from my TPR instructor: --- Phys verb biology 15 51-52 40-40 52-52 14 49-50 39-39 50-51 13 47-48 37-38 48-49 12 44-46 36-36 45-47 11 41-43 32-35 43-44 10 38-40 30-31 39-42 9 35-37 26-29 35-38 8 31-34 24-25 31-34 7 27-30 21-23 27-30 6 23-26 18-20 23-26 5 20-22 17-17 20-22 4 16-19 15-16 18-19 3 13-15 13-14 14-17 2 11-12 9-12 9-13 1 0-10 0-8 0-
canucks89
http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/admissionsadvisors/examstatistics/scaledscores/combined08.pdf So I looked at this website and I looked at each section. So for PS, I searched under Percentile Rank Range, found 50% (between 43.1-57.9) and the corresponding scaled score is an 8. Is this the right way to do it?? Also, does the scale on the link provided seem correct? Thanks!!
gb35
I think this link tells you what percentile of writers you fall into if you got a scaled score of say 8. I didn't see anywhere here where it told you how to convert a raw score into a scaled score. The other poster in the thread looks to have given you something solid to go by, at least for a ballpark.
