igeorgex
If you are doing an honour's thesis, does it count as anything "extra-curricular" on the ABS, or is it academic since you are doing it for credit? For example, if you do research and produce a poster for work-related research I know you can put it on the ABS. What if it's a thesis poster or something though? Thanks for your help! mattg
academic and/or research i think technically it is supposed to be academic, according to omsas, but i think most people put it as research (and maybe academic as well)... i think it is most important to have it in your research section, imo
thatonekid
I think the general agreement on pm101 is that thesis projects go under research. There have been multiple threads on this same topic if you want to check out some more detailed opinions.
itimebomb2
Definitely research - however, isn't there a stipulation under the details that says that course-related work will NOT be considered research? Or is that just for UOttawa? I can't remember... Bottom line, you might consider not using your thesis if you have other things to put (i.e. your list is full)

Bottom line, you might consider not using your thesis if you have other things to put (i.e. your list is full) I think the idea (once again, I'm going with the general pm101 consensus) is that course related work is like a research project that you do for some random class. It's not your thesis work, which is solely a research project.
medhopeful64
Definitely research - however, isn't there a stipulation under the details that says that course-related work will NOT be considered research? Bottom line, you might consider not using your thesis if you have other things to put (i.e. your list is full) itimebomb is right - it says on the instructions on OMSAS (when you add a Research item, and go to "add details") it says: "Please note that projects done as part of a university course do not qualify as research. " So I don't think a 4th year thesis counts, unfortunately.
HBP
Thesis projects are definitely research. The stipulation is there to prevent lab reports and class presentations beung considered "research".
astrogirl
Well, technically I get course credit for my PhD dissertation that I've been working on for the last three years, but I'm putting that under research.
Medlor2010
Research, hands down.
