I will be around for most of the orientation but could not make a couple of dates due to personal plans. I was wondering if missing certain events will exclude me from other events...

I am going to the Windsor campus, i was wondering where I would be able to stay in London during O week?

When the question was asked earlier in the year I believe the consensus was that 2013s involved in O-Week offer up their apartments, or London-based 2014s are asked to take people in for the week.

So you find out where you are staying when you get there?

My guess is that people will be contacted by O-Week planners before they get here which is possible given that the Statement of Patient Confidentiality Form is supposed to be sent to The Admissions office by August 12th.

quick question:

If I'm a previous graduate from UWO do I still need a new WesternONE Card?

The e-mail says: "If you are new to Western, you will need to obtain your Western ONECard"

So I assume you can use your old one. However, depending on when you graduated your card may not have a RFID chip in it (won't be able to access buildings) so you might need to get a new one anyways. RFID cards have a little "HID iClass" logo in the bottom left corner on the back. My first card didn't have it (summer 2004) but I got a new one later on for building access.

PS are there still people who haven't received an O-week e-mail package? Apparently have to sign forms for Wednesday but I haven't gotten it yet...

Okay, thanks! Regarding the oweek email call them Monday afternoon I guess. BTW..the forms are *very* short. One is a confidentiality agreement and the other one asks about what degree you completed/graduation date.

Yikes. Can you explain? I was potentially going to miss it - I didn't realize the school felt so strongly about it. ;)

They feel very strongly about it I am afraid. Last year it took me 6 weeks to get permission to miss it and then only barely. I was going to Africa - a trip which I spent an entire year fundraising for (malaria bed netting project) and was booked months before I knew if I got accepted or not. Plus the white coat ceremony was an entire week early compared to other years so I though I had time. Nope :)

The problem is that they go over key rules, introduce the structure of the school, hand out the orientation materials, deal with any lingering admin issues and have all of the key players give big speeches. Also it is a photo op time that relies on the entire class being there.

The school actually considers the white coat ceremony to be the first day of class basically.

Wait. I scrounge, piecemeal-like, for the o-week information to put up on the calendar, and the thanks I get is someone QUESTIONING my events calendar??

Remember this: The events calendar is my baby and is never wrong.

Haha, actually, I just talked with the coordinators (who have done an incredible job! You're my heroes!). But I can guarantee you that it is the real deal. And if you look at the calendar, it will tell you whether the event is (W) Windsor or (L) London. This explains why some of the events seem to overlap each other (they're held in different campuses). If it doesn't have a designation, it involves both campuses.
