MedMotivation
Can any current or previous students comment on Western's BSc Kin program? and how well it prepared them for medical school. Also can you apply for BSc in Kin and do another major in medical science? cheers,
Dr. Jan Intor
Jus finishing up this year.....its a great program and it'll more than prepare you for mcat (assuming you take the core sciences as your electives) and the added emphasis on anatomy and physiology will make the bio section on mcat a breeze. Also 2nd year cadaver anatomy will definitely prepare you for med school anatomy and dissections etc.
MedMotivation
did you feel you were not prepared for the other sections of the mcat? and what average do you think i would need to get into the program? is it extremely competitve to get into? im usually a low-80s student p.s. sorry for all the questions, just want opinions from students from the programs im interested in. thanks again
Dr. Jan Intor
no the other sections are fine too bc u take chem and bio 1st year and u can take physics in 1st or 2nd year. Im not sure wut the admission cutoff is at now...I came in 2007 (going into 4th year now) and I had around 84 i think.
supafield
When I came way back, you just applied to Kin and then chose arts or sci at your SAO day... That was a while ago... and back then my year was an 84 to get in because it was the double cohort but the years after that were usually right at 80 (2004-2007.) Not sure if it's gone up since then. Dr. Jan Intor
yeah its still the same....you basically decide BA/BSc by the electives you take first year and the go into either stream starting second year.
MedMotivation
really? thats sick how you decide it by what electives you take.. i thought u had to either apply to BSc or BA how hard was it to get a high GPA?
