How do US medschools look at MCAT repeats?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be giving the mcat for the first time and am kinda hopeless for verbal. If I do bad and repeat it, would it lower my chances of getting accepted to a US medical school? I've heard people say that US medschools don't like mcat repeats.

I think the unofficial rule is: 5 times max for US, 3 times max for Canadian schools.

Although for a tonne of schools, there is "no max" in Canada. :) A lot of schools will just use it as a screening tool, so "make cutoffs/flag" = continue to next round. In Ontario, most will use most recent MCAT... OOP most will use best.
