AGE a factor?

yeah the only limit is if your too young ( I think for UBC you have to be at least 21 to be awarded an MD degree- read it somewhere)

Is that for matriculation or graduation? Because to get an MD from UBC at under 21 you'd have to be about 16 or 17 when you get in, how could that even happen?

Yeah its for graduation. So the person has to start at 17. It's possible though...the applicant has to be some kind of Doogie Howser

Is there an age limit in applying for Medical Schools in Canada? If so, what is it? Which schools admit any age?

It would be illegal to actually have a policy limiting things by age - so all the schools have a stated they don't use it as a factor.

There aren't many admitted after age 30 but there are also very few people that apply that late. It would be interesting to see what the end ratio is of acceptance by age group :)

I happen to have met both Gnomey and medston in person, both of whom are over 35.

If I can get in this cycle I will be starting med school on or about my 32nd birthday. If not, then it will be my 33rd or 34th brithday. No biggie.

I think the only issue for me will be that I will have to seriously consider against doing any specialty that requires a long residency after MD. This isn't really an issue though, as I am interested in rural (although I would like to have surgery at Whitehorse General as an option!)

:D

Here's some stats on average age for Mac

http://fhs.mcmaster.ca/mdprog/documents/Classof2012.pdf

So if we take those and extrapolate to other schools, there definately seems to be people that are 30+ getting in. While the numbers are small, I'd say that's more due to the number of people that age applying and/or whether or not they have good qualifications, NOT a discrimination by the schools against older applicants.
