codeblue
Hi guys, So I know that a few MCAT sessions are left coming up. I was just wondering about the timeline for submitting your MCAT marks and application timeline for both Canada, US and internationally. Canada - submit MCAT marks in October with application correct? US - do all US schools require the MCAT marks at the same time? Or do schools (some or all) require the MCAT marks say in January when I would have another chance to write it? INT - what is the timeline for AUS, CARIB, IRE ? I'm sitting the MCAT coming up, just wondering what my options are timeline wise incase my results are not stellar for applying to schools outside of Canada. I think awhile ago I saw a timeline thread but I can't find it now. Thanks again!
Madz25
for US schools, you can submit your MCAT score later but it's not in your best interest. US schools have rolling admissions, which means they review applications and grant interviews as the applications "roll in". the later you apply, the fewer seats there are left at any given school and therefore, tougher to get interviews. January is WAY too late for US schools. You should submit a completed application (including MCAT scores, reference letters, secondary applications) by early August....people usually recommend finishing it in the summer "J" months (June/July) but you can push it to early August. I realize the deadlines for some of the schools is as late as Dec/Jan but like I said, it's in your best interest to complete the application in its entirety ASAP. Edited to add: example - complete application in July 2010 for Sept 2011 entry.
