medhopeful64
I have less than a month left to write my mcat (Sept 11), and I am so panicked because I still have so much content review to do - about half! I think I just wasted so much time taking notes and reading everything really thoroughly, but I feel like its the only way I learn. And those PR practice problems are numerous in number, but helpful. I don't want to stop doing them, but I am running out of time. What should I do? Just stop taking notes? I need time to write the practice tests too! I also feel really out of it a lot of the time, like my mind just can't concentrate when I read. Ahh I feel so anxious!
TimeOut
Reading through the books are definitely important to help you with fundamental knowledge. But if you find yourself spending more time taking super-thorough notes so you can have every last piece of information handy, you may be wasting your time. There's no point in memorizing questions and being able to recite the pathway for how food is digested, if you can't extrapolate information quickly and apply what you know. Get the facts, and do practice problems + tests. It varies depending on your learning style, but I find it's the best way to learn and solidify your knowledge anyways. And yes, if you haven't started doing any practice tests yet, you should get on those. Try allocating your time so you read through any material that you feel absolutely uncomfortable with, and practice practice practice those tests at the same time! I remember doing one test every two/three days. Good luck!! medhopeful64
thanks TimeOut for the advice. I will try to significantly reduce the amount of notes I take, but I feel like I definitely need to take some notes for the concepts to drill into my brain. I'm gonna have to do some hardcore cramming over the next few weeks! eek!
