Dentistry in the US

Recommended Posts

Hey do u guys know how GPA is calculated for dental schools in the us?

depends on which school you go to...because your school may give a different letter grade than others for the same numerical grade

I think in general your letter grades get converted to an equivalent GPA on a scale of 4.0

A=4.0

B=3.0

C=2.0

D=1.0 etc

I think they have a chart on AADSAS :)

My gpa on AADSAS was almost a point higher than my Canadian GPA. To secure a spot in the US you need to apply as early as June or July and already have your DAT scores ready. If you do so and have a gpa of 3.4 or higher..you re guaranteed an in.

Only issue would be finances! Banks refused to finance me without a super rich cosigner.

Gluck!

yea my first 2 years were really bad so I was kinda banking on the states for some reassurance. But i plan to have a good trend, good 3rd, 4th, and extra 5th year, solid DAT score and hopefully they will accept me! :)

mazaag: which schools did u apply to?

Thanks guys for this wonderful info! I love these forums they are so helpful for newbs like me haha :D
