so just called again, apparently, they've only sent out the acceptances and wait-listed applicants, no rejections just yet, they're probably waiting for people to accept/reject offers and then choose next best applicants to accept if seats are remaining.

The anticipation gets harder each day=(

Was this for Epi MPH?

I received an email from admissions about three weeks ago saying I had been recommended by the admissions committee to be admitted to MPH in Epi for this fall, and that I would be hearing from the admissions office soon via mail. It's been 3 weeks now and I'm starting to get nervous. Last week they asked for my official transcripts and my status on the online application now says "decision made"... but no letter yet.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I was in the same boat. The department recommended me four weeks ago, but I JUST received the formal acceptance from the school yesterday. Don't worry, I think you will hear from them soon...

And by the way, congrats! I'm going into epi too =D

Just in case anyone is still following this post, I received this e-mail today

"On behalf of Dr Nancy Kreiger, I am writing to inform you that the Admissions Committee has now made a strong recommendation that you be admitted into the M.P.H. program in Epidemiology for September 2011."

I was waitlisted when the first offers were sent.

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to all MPH programs in Canada. I don't know what my chances are and I don't know how to write a letter of Intent. I am especially eager to attend the UofT MPH epi program. If anyone could give me any advice that would be great.

I did 3 years of research in cancer pathology with publications.

Went abroad for a few weeks to 2 different countries.

1 Research Award

GPA 3.6ish

What are my chances.

I graduated from UofT last June double major in psychology and health.

I don't know if I'm competitive or not. How do I make a strong CV and strong letter of intent. I either want to apply to med after OR continue in research - do I include both intentions in letter of intent. Does UofT have an interview stage?

I'd really appreciate some help.

Side note - what is it about Uoft epi. program that distinguishes it from the rest?

Thanks everyone, and goodluck to all who are applying!!

Cancer research isnt relevant to the field? Are you in the program program?

Depends on the nature of your project. From my understanding, the program is looking for relevant work, including epi work and epi courses. If your prior work fits this, I think you could sell yourself in the letter of intent.

That being said, your GPA is low for admissions into the program. I think this is going to weigh heavily against you. You may want to consider other epi programs in the country.

I am not in the program, I was previously interested but have changed my mind. A career in epi is not me. Most MD/MPHs obtain their MPH after their MD.

Hi Guys,

I am a Uoft Undergraduate student in last year in Developmental Biology Specialist and Minor in Religion. I am interest in UofT MPH Epi program. Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.92 (third year); projected similar this year

Research Breast and Ovarian Cancer (Translational Research) since summer of first year (not exactly epidemiology related)

- Published poster + award

Research in Computational Chemistry in Cancer

- Publication + poster

Lot of extra-curricular work in global health (University of Toronto International Health Program) both in undergrad and high school

Am I competitive for the program?

Thanks
