PeachMango
Hi guys! I've been on this forum for awhile and I finally signed up today. Anyone else like me still waiting to hear?? I read from another thread on here that Leslie said there's no more space for switching interview times..Does that mean we are done?? Any inputs ? Thoughts? Really really anxious here. Thanks!! PeachMango
If I still don't get a reply by the end of this week, should I phone them and ask?

deadmonton
I can't believe they've been stringing us along for SO long. Don't think I would wait for a guy for this long.. Anyways if you follow her twitter (@utmedadmissions) I think this is the last week.. so that means TOMORROW.

rmorelan
Totally agree frustrating for sure - U of T was really really late getting back to me as well, but in the end I did get accepted there. This I guess is just the flip side of the holistic approach - it just takes such a very, very long time to process things as there are no easy shortcuts. Hang in there! OIC
rmorelan, might you be able to share some of your reasoning in choosing UWO over UT? I interviewed at both this past weekend and I'm torn between the city and strength of research at Toronto vs the clerkship program at Western, which seems awesome... quackster
you should pick Western to free up a U of T spot for me!
PeachMango
WOW.. To all those waiting out there: I just called the admissions office asking if we should be expecting a reply today...to my surprise, the person on the other end of the phone was rather rude and disinterested in my question...But here's what I asked : I asked her if we can be expecting an answer today from the admissions office. She said that if that is what the blog said, then "sure". I also asked if we still do not hear anything by tonight, what does that mean? She said they will make sure that all applicants being invited for an interview are contacted, and those of us who do not hear should automatically assume a rejection. What??????? After waiting this long, don't we have the right to at least receive a rejection email?!?!?!?!!?!?!! I'm so disappointed and I feel extremely disrespected!!! Any thoughts?? So what, not even a rejection after stringing us along for THIS LONG???? Can someone please call them to confirm this. Here's hoping the particular person I spoke with is clueless and heartless. Thanks guys!
PeachMango
((("Sorry but I must say this. This is completely unfair to those of us who waited this long. Not even a proper answer!! Unfortunately, this situation is rather too familiar to me as a 4th year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto. Faculty here do not really care that much about us. Getting information is like pulling teeth. While it is expected for them to make sure all candidates for interviews are contacted, they should, out of RESPECT, let us know via a rejection letter. All this leaves me is bad taste in my mouth. Although it seems they really care about their own meds students while they get in, I can only say they are not creating a good image for themselves if they do not treat applicants fairly and in a timely fashion. As crazy as it sounds, I do not think I will apply to this school again if I were to reapply for med next year. I do not care for a school, as prestigious as it is, if it does not care for its students and fellow applicants who went through a great deal of trouble to be even considered for a chance at interview. A rejection letter is the least they can do."))) Improper emotional rant, please ignore
HBP
You'll get a proper rejection. Maybe not today.
OIC
I would at least wait until the end of the day to make your judgement on this. Deborah has been great at responding to people and trying to quell concerns. By the sound of it, you spoke to someone who was probably ill-informed and not directly involved in the admissions process. The official word has been that they are making final decisions this week. Mind you, "mid-march" is as firm a date as has ever been given and that has yet to pass. Usually a friday and the following monday are when the bulk of emails go out, and often they went out later in the afternoon.
neuronix
if you get an interview today you're going to feel really silly. just chill. a lot of people have been in your shoes. The adcom is trying - there are often glitches, but that's just the way it. You need to be patient.
PeachMango
Thanks for your input guys. I was just really disappointed at being told that I won't even receive a proper email after waiting this long by an admission officer on the phone. Here's really hoping I just spoke someone who was clueless. Thanks!
HBP
Also, uoft is easily at the top in terms of communication from the admissions office. They keep us updated more than most other schools, so we should be grateful.
quackster
don't assume the person who answered the phone knows exactly what's going on. Also keep in mind that this person has probably received many such calls of the same inquiry, despite the fact that the answer you seek has already been communicated via the blog. I know it sucks, but be patient.

Here's really hoping I just spoke someone who was clueless. Thanks! You will get a proper email regardless of the decision. UofT has always had the decency to do so. In addition, Deborah will make a post in her blog when all decisions have gone out and all interviews have been confirmed. If you haven't received anything by then, your email likely bounced back at some point during this process.

Even though Deborah's been keeping us updated this entire time, to the many of us waiting it's a mere form of telling us to wait even longer. I know that's helpful for some who can just put this whole ordeal aside, and check back at the end of each week. For some like me, I cannot help but cling onto every little update she gives (Kinda sad, but true for many first time applicants), which is rather tortuous. I guess there's no other way to do this differently as U of T adopts a holistic selection process. I apologize if I upset anyone regarding my posts. It was just my spontaneous reaction after the phone call. Again, thanks for the kind words guys.

I was in your shoes last year, and I waited until the last possible days for an interview invite. I was extremely happy that she was updating us, telling us what was going on, and when to expect whatever was coming (i.e. if she says nothing this week, I could put it off my mind, rather than being aware it could be "anytime"). This continued through the summer while I was on the waitlist for the entire "ordeal". She would communicate how many spots were sent out, and when the waitlist was shortened, and shortened again for the back-up list. The communication doesn't stop. I've done a ton of waiting at UofT (probably more than most applicants), and I'm just happy with the way they handle things.

OIC
PeachMango, your disappointment with the process seems to be how long it is taking. This cannot be blamed on the staff at UT. We were informed from the very outset that this would be how long we could expect to wait. Also, previous years were no different. While this is surely a gruelling process we all knew what we were getting into.
