da5id
Been volunteering at this hospital for 6 years now. Does this make me seem like I am unable to take risks?
osteon
As long as you have a variety of other activities, I think it would be viewed favorably.

Curi0user
Been volunteering at this hospital for 6 years now. Does this make me seem like I am unable to take risks? I actually think consistency is a good thing. But don't focus on one thing only, try to juggle a little more, but all in all, I think sticking with a program is a GOOD trait. PhoenixFlare500
If anything volunteering at one place for a long time shows commitment to whatever you're doing, as long as you're doing other extracurricular activities and can show that you're a well-rounded person with variety in their life. He's right. Med school's are like girls: They like to see commitment, and they want variety (In the sense that you're multidimensional.. not to do with the thousands of applicants they see ) It would be unfavourable to volunteer at one place for a long time, and it would be unfavourable to volunteer at many places for a short amount of time. Guest copacetic
no, it shows commitment. When I review apps im not impressed by people with a million different activites who only did each for like a month or two, or even a year. Granted, its good to do other things too, but if you have to choose between doing a million different things for a shorter time its better to do fewer things for a longer time. Their more meaningful that way and it shows in the interview.
