Hippocrates_
Hey, Does anyone know NOSM's policy about scoring the interview? I have heard two beliefs: 1) Your best and worst stations (of the 10) are dropped. 2) Your worst station is dropped. Or is all this just speculation? I know this knowledge is not going to change whether or not any of us are accepted, but it may abate that occasional pang of guilt and regret when suddenly a foggy yet painful memory from those tiny rooms sneaks into our awareness unannounced. thehumanmacbook
I heard worst and best dropped Why would they drop both your worst and your best station?

Northern_Gal
When I arrived at my interview, I asked three different students and they all told me three different things (worst station dropped, best & worst station dropped, no station dropped). It does not state anywhere in any official NOSM documentation that they will drop the lowest score.. I was going to ask admissions, but I liked the idea of going in there thinking that there was a "possibility" that my lowest score would be dropped
MilSarah
The first time I interviewed, in 2009, they said in the pre-interview info session that they would take off your best and worst station. Same thing with my brother in 2008. Last year, 2010, there was no mention pre-interview of this. We heard rumours that it wasn't the case anymore, so someone called to verify : I called and asked and no they don't drop your lowest anymore...sucks b/c I definitely felt two stations were just okay....and now looking back and analyzing I definitely think I could have said things differently... This year (2011), I heard no mention of this during the pre-interview info session I attended. So i'm thinking it is a no. But someone could always email admissions to ask - as long as we don't all do it at once!! haha

Hippocrates_
Ok so I emailed them and verdict is: No stations dropped. Nuts.
Hoote
Actually I kind of agree with not dropping stations. If you think about it, we rarely get a second chance to make a first impression which is especially true of doctors. Sometimes you just need to get it right, the first time. And in the end, everyone will probably have a rough station so it might just equal out in the end.
Guest booya
great, we have another case of someone expecting doctors to be perfect - get real
thehumanmacbook
Don't worry everyone! I'm sure everyone did great - it's really up to them to decide at the end, whether worst station dropped or not. Positive thinking!
Thunderclouds
they aren't expecting you to be perfect, it's an interview not a test. Everyone who interviewed is being treated the same way.
