Nixon
Even though a busy schedule may not allow you - at first glance - all the time you'd like for hobbies, you HAVE TO do something else than medicine. Studying medicine, spending hours surrounded by med students, reading med books, etc. can quickly get overwhelming and nerve-racking, whatever passion you have for med ! You don't wanna end up suffering depression after your first semester or your first year ; yet i know many people who did What's been working for me up to now is that i find a few hours in the week during which i plan to do something else (gym, friends, movies, party and so on) and then plan the rest of my week upon this schedule (studying, reading, lectures, etc). This way i make sure i have time for hobbies.
psychoswim
I'll have fifteen hours of class during my first year. Plenty of time for hobbies and other stuff! Med-P at McGill differs a lot from Med-P at UdeM! lol I'm most likely going to start training with the varsity team because with my schedule there is no way I can keep training at the national center at the olympic pool :/
psychoswim
How many hours of class per week will you have on average? My schedule changes a lot, but it's pretty much full except for 1 afternoon and maybe 1 morning a week? We take 6 classes in the fall + some volunteering hours, and some of the classes have much more than 3 hours per week. I'd say between 20 and 25 on average if you go to all classes (which I don't intend to do)?
