EoE
So I am a total dork and am always reading. I have tons of time this summer before I start medicine (hurray for taking the summer off!)... Does anyone have any suggestions for journals or blogs to read? I am reading a few journal articles here and there and just enjoying reading interesting thoughts on PBL, medical education, techniques, etc. I have also been working my way through the blogs people on this forum write and the blogs that those blogs link to (shout out to medrunner). Here are the journals I am experimenting with: CMAJ (article collections are interesting), NEJM (super cool videos) and Student BMJ (random articles)... Also, another thing about me is that I love acronyms!
dokta
BC Medical Journal is one that I really like - their website is great. Haven't found one of similar quality for other provinces but would be interested in seeing!

Jochi1543
The only medical blog I read is drsharma.ca - it's about obesity management. He's a U of A guy, actually gave us a lecture or two back in 1st year.

He's a U of A guy, actually gave us a lecture or two back in 1st year. That's funny, because I am meeting Dr. Sharma for a coffee this Friday. I am part of the U of T chapter of the Canadian Obesity Network. He is in town and suggested we meet up. Seems like a cool guy.
Darla
I like my blog... http://surrealmeds.blogspot.com/ ... though I'm biased. And I really like reading the Rural physicians' journal (SRCP). It tends to have lots of great practical advice and offers a new slant on thinking about issues that we don't tend to cover in academic medicine. I'm a bit of a tech head so I also follow http://www.imedicalapps.com/ They give reviews of apps that tend to stand up to real use.

He IS pretty cool. And I'm also part of CON, although I'm not super-involved, just go to journal club and such. I was planning to do an elective at his clinic in 4th year. That would be a great opportunity as he is obviously a very well known and respected physician and researcher.

aravis
Yay! Cerena's comics are especially cute I also keep up with Hyperbole and a Half (SUCH a funny blog), smitten kitchen, and two peas and their pod. For journals, every Thursday I check out Nature.com for interesting stuff. Ima nerd who likes to laugh and cook what can I say.

notjk
Cerena's blog is interesting ( in a random but good and fun way), but I prefer medhopeful, though lately they are pretty busy with medical school (fortunately I have exams to worry about instead )
Renin
I get the Lancet to send out an email with summaries of their most important articles. I spend 30 seconds reading that a week ... My CMAJ goes straight to the recycle bin.
leviathan
Journalwatch is really awesome for sending short summaries of all the new papers. ACP Journal Club is good too.

isix
Is it not enough that I have a list of (fiction) books to read this summer that you now give me all of this stuff? For shame Cerena, for shame...
Cerena
Is it not enough that I have a list of (fiction) books to read this summer that you now give me all of this stuff? For shame Cerena, for shame... Come now, isix. Get your head together. I pump out 20 books a day plus read, draw comics, compose music AND act. Simultaneously. This is on the off chance that I'm having lazy day. Surely you can handle a couple of blogs. For shame, Cerena? More like for shame, isix. isix
I'm going to go into a corner and cry now I hope you're happy. And if I post elsewhere on this forum, it's only because I have my iPhone with me in my corner. And now I've also just realized that if I'm not doing ten awesome things at once, I really shouldn't be going to medschool. What now?
