When do you pick which campus you want to go to?

Recommended Posts

You pick midway...

Once you've been invited for an interview (early Feb), UWO will send you an email with all the information regarding interview times and ask you to log onto their system and pick a preference for the two sites. You get to change your mind all the way till early April, I think....

As long as there are empty interview spots. It's best to have a firm choice the first time you pick your interview location (which is the campus you want).

Empty interview spots? Was that a factor in being able to change preferences? Unless you mean changing your interview times, which makes sense...

Anyways, here's what we got in the email so there is no miscommunication from what we tell you, ByrdPac

"CAMPUS PREFERENCE

As of September 2008, Schulich Medicine began operating out of two sites, one in Windsor, Ontario and one in London, Ontario. Students assigned to either Windsor or London will complete all of their studies at that location. Students enrolled at either site will graduate from the University of Western Ontario. When you log in to the website to pick your interview time preferences you will also be asked to indicate your site preference.

Please note that this preference is not weighted into your overall ranking and will not impact whether or not you receive an offer. It simply allows us to make offers tailored to your preference, where possible. If you are successful in receiving an offer of admission from us, we will attempt to place you at your preferred site. However, if the allotted seats at that site are full, a seat in the other location will be offered to you.

You will have until 11:59 PM APRIL 10TH, 2011 to change your mind about your site preference. If you change your mind after your interview with us, please contact us by email at admissions.medicine@schulich.uwo.ca . Remember to include your OMSAS number (2011-8xxxxx) in the correspondence."

Yeah - I think that earlier post might be worded a bit off but no big deal - Western doesn't have a set number of London vs Windsor interview spots. That would be completely against our philosophy of doing everything possible to make both sites equally awesome places to do to school.

Of course there are set limits to the number eventually that can get into either site. My understanding is that it will not matter at all which campus you select as your preference in terms of your chances to get accepted :)
