bilalbagha
A lot of American med schools require a year of English. Would they consider another writing course such as history or philosophy as an english or would it have to formally be an english course?

Leon
I'm fairly sure any non-english course will be treated as such. I'd clarify with the schools if you're really concerned but when they say English, they probably mean English and not just any other humanities substitute. phosgenic
Definitely has to be an English course. Though philosophy and others can count towards a humanities req. if they ask for English, it has to be English.
capnamerica
LoL. I'll be taking an English course called "Comics and Cartoons" this year. I hope that counts!
limoncello
Some American schools will accept writing intensive courses in philosophy for example for their English requirements
thatonekid
LoL. I'll be taking an English course called "Comics and Cartoons" this year. I hope that counts! If it's under the English course selection at your university and you have to write a paper/take a test, you'll be fine. That actually sounds like a really neat english course. brikouada
Don't be fooled thinking any courses, regardless of faculty, that's a designated essay course will do - I've seen a lot of friends fall into that trap. You need a course offered from your english department thats considered a composition or literature course.
