Graphire
I live in Canada and it is extremely difficult to get some shadowing hours. I think I got a spot with one of the dentists that work at my school, however I probably won't begin for a week or two. The problem is I want to hand in my AADSAS application ASAP but this causes the problem of: 1. I don't have any shadowing hours as of date. 2. I don't have a reference letter from a Dentist Do you guys suggest that I hand in my application with 3 professors and then send the Dental Reference when I get it individually to each school? Or just wait it out a bit.
sciappmed
I had no trouble getting around 70 hours in 1 month from about 8 dentists by cold-emailing and then the dentists that I shadowed hooking me up with other dentists. Anyway, I have applied to US schools last year and I don't even know the answer to this question. I would ask on sdn.
blahblah1985
I would submit my application ASAP..and send the dental reference letter individually. There is a certain processing time for your application. During that time, you can work on shadowing. Also, one of the bigger differences between those who get interviews in the states and those who don't, is how early they send in their application. So if its good to go (minus the reference letter), send in your application. Many many schools will look at your application without hte letter too. And defn send out as many emails as you possibly can and make as many phone calls to dentists. You will defn come across dentists who would let you shadow them. Good luck! You would also have to update each school on your shadowing experiences then. Meanwhile, the schools will think you have no shadowing. 2. Your PS can have nothing about your shadowing experiences. I sometimes just tag along my friends or family members when they have their tooth pulled out or w/e. That way at least you can get to know the dentist and then ask him upfront. Give it a shot Gud luck
