Applying through OMSAS without mcat score

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I wanted to reschedule my mcat date for september 2, but I'm not sure what happens in terms of the application deadlines through OMSAS. I would ideally receive my score October 4. If the deadlines for certain schools to apply are before that, what happens? Is there a separate deadline for when the schools need your mcat score? I'm confused about the whole thing to be honest.

I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks =)

You apply without it (you have to submit when your test date is though). Release your scores to OMSAS when they come out.

exactly - you should immediately release them (last year I ran into someone who forgot to do that, and well that was the end of his application cycle :().

Am I at some sort of disadvantage by having my score released after my application is submitted? btw, thanks for the quick reply! =)

So if the MCAT score is late from this date due to AAMC troubles (for instance), and it potentially comes out Oct 10th; is that still going to be okay as well? Or do we have to scramble and email OMSAS immediately about the overdue score?
That'll be fine. The thing about getting you MCAT score after the OMSAS deadline is that OMSAS then delays processing your application. But it's really not a big deal since schools don't start really doing file evaluations until a later point in time (i.e. not in early October). When you finally do get your MCAT score, you just need to release the scores through AAMC and then email OMSAS to say that you released your scores and to ask them to add that to your application.

I have a couple of questions about this too:

1. I entered my Test Date and AAMC number on the OMSAS app for now, but I can only release scores AFTER they come out using the THx site right?

2. Are you sure about need to send an accompanying email to OMSAS? They dont mention anything about that, is that just an extra precaution you recommend? On the OMSAS application it only says:

Enter your most recent MCAT test date and your AAMC ID so OMSAS can accurately match your MCAT scores to your OMSAS file. If you are writing the MCAT in July, August or September of the application year and do not have your AAMC ID at the time you submit your application, you must forward it to OMSAS no later than October 15 of that year.
