3rd year medsci schedule

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm wondering if my schedule is a bad idea because i don't have many prereqs for 4th year courses. I only have prereqs for pathology 4th year..

1st sem: Path 3240A, Anatomy 3319, Biochem 3385A, Psychology 2075, Classics 2800A

2nd sem: Path 3245B, Anatomy 3319, Biochem 3386B, Psychology 2075, Bio2581B

I tried to stay away from physio because of the cumulative exams/more content... i have no idea if this is a better choice though. I'm planning to do a medsci degree. Thanks!

Edit: Some medical schools have a requirement of 3.0/5.0 credits being from your given year of study. Is there any other schools that expect more than 60% of your courses be from a given year?

I picked up my courses yesterday and was also debating what courses to take given that there are so many options if your in the Med sci module. You want to make sure you can get the 2.0 credits in fourth year, so i choose to take the Physio 3120 and 3140b as they will provide me with many options in forth year. It was between biochem 3581a ( prereq. for many 4th year biochem courses) and the physio's ( 3120 and 3140b) that i was debating on which to take. But from what i've heard and from the course evaluation Biochem was harder. Although 3140b is quite tough its course evaluation from previous years indicates the majority of people seemed to be able to pull off an A, If i can recall, 2/3 got A and the rest B.

Given your current courses, although light and might seem pleasing this year i think you might have difficulty picking up good courses next year not to mention you'll be very restricted from what to choose.

Just my 2cents.

Yeah that's what i was thinking. I am banking on 4th year medsci lab + getting into both pathology 4th year courses for my 2.0 credits for 4th year. Biochem 3581a i heard was terrible so i might be stuck with taking phys or pharm although with pharm, it is highly recommended that you take phys as a co requisite. Sigh cant get away from physio lol..

Basically what i did was take physio 3120 and 3140b then loaded the rest of my year with easy courses. I took Immunology 3300 ( easy/ straightforward) biochem 3386 ( very easy), classics 2300 ( I had lamari and he was a great lecturer and i heard the course is super easy), Anatomy 3319 ( again easy and interesting), and the 2nd year online pharmacology course ( easy + its online :D).

Your fourth year medsci lab courses (4900f/g and 4930f/g) don't count towards the 2.0 credits of fourth year courses requirement. Taking biochem 3381a would open up a lot of options for fourth year biochem courses (4463G and 4465A are pretty easy and interesting!)

edit: biochem 3381a was NOT terrible! lol
