Are the references emailed now?

I see that in Step 1 we need to list our 2 references. Once we submit Step 1 will they be emailed confirmation that we listed them as a reference or will they only receive an email in a couple of months when they need to do the letter? I just want to know what to tell my references to expect. Thanks!

I thought I read somewhere that the 2 reference contact info is not needed until near interview time. ????

 

I don't see anywhere so far in Step 1 that references are needed yet.

 

I do see, however, that we need multiple "references" for the supplementary forms in Step 2 just so they can check to make sure we are not lying.

I had the same problem with being asked to fill them in a few days ago. Then, the "first" reference spot was take n out, but the second one was left there. Now, there is no spot for a reference. Also, I've never tried calling the admissions office because they seem to discourage this on the website, but you're probably better off because I've found they rarely write back via email. Let us know what you hear :)
