question for some uoft students

course enrollment is taking place very soon and I big question I have on my mind is whether or not I should take bio270/271 or psl 300/301

psl302 has been cut into halves into 300/301 its grading scheme is 34% term test and 64% exam for both 300/301

the scheme for bio270/271 25% midterm/45% final/30% labs

I was just wondering if any uoft upper year undergraduates could give me any advice on whether I should take psl or bio? if possible could someone please list the pros and cons of taking each?

i've heard how hard psl was, but I was wondering if I'd be crutched or hindered in future if i didn't take it.

thanks ahead of time for your advice/comments!

I'm entering 2nd year so I can't be of too much help but I've heard the BIO270/271 labs are difficult but the tests/exam is much easier than psl.

But judging by the grading scheme, psl looks more intimidating than bio due to the 64% exam... It's make it or break it in 3 hours...yikes.

Depends on your subject post. If your post accepts either, than just go the easier route and take BIO 270/271. If you look at the anticalendar the difficulty rating for BIO 270/271 is 3.9/7 whereas PSL302 is 5.8/7 -- huge difference. I took PSL300 myself and there was a LOT of memorization.

I guess the main thing is, just don't give yourself extra work without reason.

@drkwhy didn't know that about the labs! thanks for the info gotta add that to the con side haha

@tothestars yeah i did a bit of research and the only courses I wouldn't be able to take out of my majors (h&d and cell and molec) were the hmb470 series (which kind of interested me since it's exercise science but I think i'll live)

other than that I can't find a big pro in taking psl300/301 and again yeah I was thinking along the same lines, if I don't really need to take it there really shouldn't be any point in doing so, unless of course later on it'll bite me in the ass if i dont which is kind of why i wanted to get some feedback from people on here, so thanks! :)

can anyone else shed some light on both courses?
