Writing multiple MCATs during summer

Hi all!

I've been thinking about writing 2 MCATs this summer. Some of the reasons as to why is that I may perform poorly due to anxiety or possibly the test version may contain a big portion on the material that I quite do not grasp (E.g. I'm really weak on, let's say, kinematics in physics; and there would be like a passage on kinematics & multiple free standing q's).

Currently I'm scheduled to write the MCAT on Aug 19.

I've been debating for the last two weeks whether I should move my first one to Aug 5-6/End of July and write the second one at the end of August. Or, write it on Aug 19 as planned, and write another one on Aug 30 or Sept 1.

I've searched the Forum but most of what I encountered was how the medical schools treat multiple MCATs (score-wise).

Any input would be appreciated!

**FYI, I'm applying to U of Manitoba. U of M takes the best composite score.

I my opinion, you should try to have the score released before the second sitting of the exam.

I am writing my exam on July 16th. My scores will be released on August 15th. If I have to, I will be able to book a second exam then.

I guess the important question for you to examine is if the school will take the best or the most recent score.

I took two MCATs this summer, the first being June 16 and the second being July 6. Like you are wanting to do, I didn't wait for my first scores to be released. I totally freaked out during my first exam and felt like I bombed it afterward. For the second exam I did minimal extra studying and felt tons better about it. I am happy I did this, write your first one and if you feel like you didn't do as well as you'd have liked, then go ahead and schedule a second one. I feel like it worked out nicely for me (of course I still haven't received my score yet but my gut feeling tells me I made the right choice). And, like you, the schools I am looking into take the best score, not the most recent, so theres really no harm in doing it.

Hope that helps! ;)
