Cleah
Hi Everyone, Has anyone taken any Athabasca courses while registered as a undergrad/grad student at UBC? I'm wondering how admissions looks at this. I need to take a second English prerequiste for UBC and want to do it by distance as on-campus courses would take me out of the lab. I'm waiting for a response from UBC but thought I would ask in the meantime Thx!!
kylamonkey
I have taken many courses through distance ed from institutions other than my own. You usually need to go to student services or academic advising and get a "permission to take courses elsewhere" form, and then it's all cool. That said... It can come back to bite you, because it makes you into a non-trad of sorts. It will look on first glance at your transcript that you have less than a full courseload. The best option for you in my opinion, is to do one of the UBC courses that is offered through correspondence. I did it, and it was fine. You'll be even more fortunate because you *may* be able to actually meet with your prof in person. ENGL 112 is the one I took.
