umad?
I'm thinking of going with scotia bank... What are the advantages of other banks over scotia bank? Personally, I hate RBC because they ripped me off before (long story)
applesandsand
Hey umad, I'm actually in the same predicament so I can't be of too much help. All I (think I may) know is that Scotia's changed their limit to 250? Do you know if this is right? Thanks
umad?
Hey umad, I'm actually in the same predicament so I can't be of too much help. All I (think I may) know is that Scotia's changed their limit to 250? Do you know if this is right? This is defs a plus for UBC Dents if true. Thanks haha, I don't even know why I put quick in the title. I don't actually need the LOC right now. But, from the open house, I remember that if you don't use $$ from your LOC, you don't get charged interest. BUT you still get all the benefits of a professional LOC account (free debit& stuff). I'm also 99% sure that scotia bank does give out 250k. So yea... if anyone have info, feel free to post below. see you in aug!
shabibi
Yeah, I can confirm that Scotiabank does 250k - just got it the other day. The lady there had a whole up-to-date sheet for rates/amounts of all the other main banks, and Scotia's was the best. I even checked out RBC and had to squeeze them to offer 220k vs. their advertised 200k...

A friend at UWO complained the London rep insisted on only $200 as the official Scotia max- that was 2 months ago. Could you tell me what city you were in to get the $250? The change only happened a 2 weeks ago - the details aren't even with all the reps yet - but you can certainly argue for increases now if you have an older LOC etc.
xylem29
They're pretty much all the same although I have to say that it seems the two most popular are Scotiabank and RBC. I think it really comes down to how comfortable you feel with the people working at your branch.
shabibi
I got it from Ottawa, but I don't think it should make a difference where. And yeah, it's a brand new increase, so they don't even advertise the 250k (yet). A friend at UWO complained the London rep insisted on only $200 as the official Scotia max- that was 2 months ago. umad?
I can also confirm 250k from scotia bank. I spoke to their senior professional manager and they haven't even started advertising the 250k yet. When I was speaking with the RBC people, they said they could do an extra 20-30k. I went with scotia.
