TurboBeaver
Hello all, I'm just looking for some thoughts on U of C's biomedical science program. If anyone could comment on the course structure, or their impressions in general it would be much appreciated. This year I'm shadowing the program to finish some prerequisites, then hopefully transferring in second year. My ultimate goal is to get into medical research (which I think I would really enjoy), and possibly med school down the road. Thanks again! Rachel White
Biomedical science leads to becoming a research scientist. This career is really interesting. Biomedical scientists carry out a range of laboratory tests to assist doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The work is highly varied and both practical and analytical. They work in healthcare to diagnose disease and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment through the analysis of fluids and tissue samples from patients. Disease causing micro-organisms are isolated for identification and for susceptible to antibiotic therapy. Diseases diagnosed in this way include meningitis, food poisoning, and legionnaires disease.
