Oly
O-Week is just around the corner, and I still don't have a home. I am moving from Toronto on Monday evening and would really like to move in somewhere on Tuesday. My problem is two-fold: a) I absolutely do not have time to look for furnishings, so I must rent a furnished home. I can only commit to 2-4 months, at which point my boyfriend will join me in Calgary and we will purchase a condo together. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance
larva
I'm probably not as much help as someone *in* Calgary, but the website rentfaster.ca seems pretty popular there, and you can specify furnished places in the search. Good Luck!
LostLamb
I think Patrician Village (a Boardwalk property) might have furnished suites. Whether or not they have month to month tenancies and availability is another thing all together, but is worth a try for a temp. solution.
astrogirl
You could also maybe look in to living in residence on campus. They have furnished apartments, but I'm not sure about the lease terms. They might be willing to work with you, though. I talked to them when I was considering doing my PhD at UofC 4 years ago and they seemed willing to be really flexible about things. Rebencer
Like said above, check rentfaster.ca I have seen fully furnished apartments on monthly agreements posted there.
Erk
Follow the above advice, and if you find yourself truly homeless when you get here, send me a PM. My wife and I have a spare bedroom that we'd rather not have people crashing in, but I don't want to hear about classmates sleeping on the street.
