verbal scores

Recommended Posts

Last two cycles, the cutoff for VR has been 11. Prior to the 2010 entry year, the cutoff was a 10.

I would assume it will be 11 this year since this seems to be what they've used the last two years, which is ever since the CBT version of the MCAT started producing hundreds of multiple-time-MCAT-takers.

But, as usual, until Jan. 2012, we will not know what the cutoff is officially.

Hey,

I was just wondering what are the chances of getting into UWO med if you did your undergrad at UWO but your MCAT is really low - like 20R? GPA is around 3.5. Would it be a waste to apply?

UWO is the most number-specific in terms of having a chance at an interview.

Although the cutoffs may change, nowadays in general, you are safest with 3.75+ in each of your two best 2 years of undergrad (ensuring each of them also meets the 60%/40% course level rule and a full courseload). As for MCAT, you are at the moment safest with 11VR, 10+ BS and 9+ PS.

Does this fit your situation? If yes, apply. If you are way below, then you must upgrade your numbers.

Unfortunately it does not matter in Canada where you did you undergrad, and like the previous poster said, 20R is way below the cutoffs (even for SWOMEN you need an overall of 30). GPA wise 3.7 for 2 years is bare minimum.

I am gonna be blunt here, don't take it personally, but with those stats you have zero chance of studying medicine in Canada.

I'm assuming you walked into your MCAT without studying at all to get a 20R. Take a prep course and work your ass off if you're not a science major to hit 30+ MCAT.

You have to be realistic about your future - look into other options such as schools outside Canada.

+1

a 20R MCAT will be difficult for the Caribbean to even take your application seriously.

30+ is what you want to aim for.
