uigga
I've only had a few odd jobs throughout university, nothing really exciting from a ad-coms point of view. You think I should bother even putting these down in empolyment history?
Cass
I would still recommend putting it down just so that it shows you actually did something under employment. In regards to contacting verifiers, perhaps you can use a friend/parent who can verify that activity? I only put 3 things down in that section lol. uigga
yeah I used friends/family on the OMSAS app... But the UMan app asks specifically for "Supervisor Name and Phone Number". Couple that with the fact that it is not even used, I am thinking why bother.
nightsky
Does anyone know how this list of employment and extracurricular activities play a role in determining admission?!!!! If they are NOT using this info in composite score (which seems to be made up with only the MCAT score and the GPA), what is the point in gathering such information from us?!! GLAB
From the application bulletin on the University of Manitoba Website, section 10: All applicants are asked to complete a volunteer history and employment history. Information submitted is not scored and does not contribute to the composite score but may be used for verification of information submitted in the application I imagine this is used as some sort of independent verifier of your rural coefficient and academic coefficient claims. So if you claim to have been rural for the last 5 years, but have no work experience where you claim to have lived this may raise some red flags, that sort of thing. minuteman420
I actually thought it did contribute to our scores... guess it was wrong. If it doesn't contribute to the Personal Assessment Score (45% of application) then I don't know what it does contribute to... Either way having good work or volunteer experience is a huge huge asset. There's going to be times in the interview when linking or relating what you're discussing during the interview to some of your past experiences could make or break that scenario.
