Academic Appointment

From the UMan supplementary application:

 

Please list all academic appointments in a professorial stream (Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) and the academic institution(s) to which you were appointed.

 

 

I dont really understand this section. Of course it is possible for Professors and Assistant professors to be applying to medical school. But why would they have a special section devoted to that? Isn't that a really rare situation?

 

As a grad applicant, I have some experience where I was teaching small groups of students. But I dont think that is what they are asking for.
