toothdecay Posted October 3, 2011 Report Share Posted October 3, 2011 The fourth year dental students at the University of Manitoba are offering a DAT prep course that will focus on carving and the PAT. We'll be offering two sessions: one on October 8th, which will focus on one-on-one tutorials for the carving and PAT. The second session will be on October 22nd, and that will consist of a mock carving and PAT test, then we will give feedback and give tutorials where students have problems. On both days, we will also be offering a interview tutorial at the end of each session. For those interested in attending both sessions, it will be $350. If you'd like to attend just one session, it will be $200. The DAT prep course will be held in Schwartz lecture theatre in the Faculty of Dentistry. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. If you are interested in attending this course or have any questions regarding the course, please email umdatprep@gmail.com and please indicate which date you would like to attend, or if you would like to attend both dates. Each student who comes to the session will have a dental student who will provide a one-on-one session individually. $200 is actually pretty reasonable considering each student will have individualized help for the session, lunch and refreshments will be provided, and each student will be provided with two pieces of CDA soap. I know it's a bad idea to wait till the last month to learn to carve so I will need a lot of help, also will there be an instructions manual provided? Thanks in advance. This course will be good for all levels. We'll be starting with the basics in our lecture, then with our one-on-one session you can ask whatever questions you may have or have your tutor show you how to do anything you may have problems with. Hi Gandalph, the October 22nd session will be a mock carving and PAT. Students who are interested in taking the DAT or who will be taking the DAT on November 5th are encouraged to attend. The cost of the session will be $200. The carving exam and PAT will be timed and graded according to the requirements, and students will be given feedback on their carvings so they can take them home and work on improving their carving before the exam. If the students who attend the session would like tutorials for carving, there will be fourth year students to provide the tutorials.
