MCAT score, rewrite or not?

Recommended Posts

It ultimately depends on several factors.

Are you IP? How good is your GPA? What year are you in? How good are your EC's?

Average MCAT for 4th year applicants is 10.92 Q or around 33Q. Keep in mind this includes OOP MCAT scores, so an IP average would be slightly less. 33 Q, I would say is a bit above average and thus a respectable score for applying to U of A.

Average for 2nd and 3rd year MCAT is 11.86 R or nearly 36R, if you're a 2nd or 3rd year applicant I would consider rewriting.

I wouldn't, it's a pretty good score. If you feel like you really underperformed and were getting much higher scores on practice exams, then you could consider it. But think of the things you'd have to give up in order to go through the prep again. You might be better off spending that time on ECs or regular schoolwork.

Hey thanks for the responses. I am going to be applying in my 4th year. I am IP. My GPAs have been as follows: 3.61 and 3.94. I messed up first year and am hoping to drop that year. I also hope to get a 3.8 + in my third year. My ECs are okay, I guess spending the summer working on my ECs is a better choice than rewriting? Thanks !

Your better off working on ECs. You'll get an interview in 4th year provided you keep up the GPA...
