Sorry.. but a question on which mcat!

Recommended Posts

from Dr. Walker's podcast, I got the idea that only choose a score with lower VR if the overall grade is more than 3 points higher.

While my overall grade only increased by 1, my writing sample however increased quite substantially... should I still use the 9 VR mark?

Can your writing ability be reflected in your course work? (such as an A in english courses.) Same applies to biology courses. If so, they might overlook the N or the lower BS score. I would probably choose the one with 9VR.

This really is a tough one because of the N. Would that flag you? I'm not sure.

I say flip a coin at this point... :D

My gut says go with the 30N and write a line in the additional comments section.

Ahh I know :S Hmmm what to do what to do

What about this:

VR9, composite 26

or

VR8, composite 31, with a 4-point improvement of my BS and 2-point improvement on my PS

And I'm IP

How are your grades in intro biol/phys/chem? If they're solid (like, above 80), then go with the VR9.

And I think that writing a short sentence in the additional comments section will help, becuase the BS/PS/WS stuff is only considered in the subjective portion.

My grades are in fact 80s...this was Ian Walker's response:

"If you are an AB applicant, it gets a bit more complicated. You would take a small hit on the VR section, probably less than one SD. It is really impossible to say whether or not that difference would be made up on he subjective academic assessment section. It depends on SO many different variables. It will need to be your call.

Hope that helps."

If I use the 2004 score, would I be able to contact them and change my preference to the 2011 mark if my mark goes up?

Are you even allowed to use a MCAT score more than 5 years old?

Either way you can't change any part of your application once you submitted it. Sorry

Yep, they will accept scores from as far back as 1991. Has anyone ever applied with a rescore in process?

I personally feel that a VR score of 6 would be a real red flag for you. Don't use such an unbalanced score with such a low VR!

I mean.. if the VR goes up to an 8 after re-score.. who knows, but as it is, as impressive as a 13/14 are, the 6 will kill it.

And I woudn't worry about the P. I got an O, and they seemed happy to take me.
