Is there any site or video blog or whatever, where i can find tips, different possible shapes and technics on the soap carving? My exam is in 3 weeks and i want to get some more help on these stuff! thank you in advance!

Or if you're close to a major city check and see if there's a DAT prep course being run. There's one in Winnipeg run by the Manitoba students, and there's also Rock The DAT run by the Alberta students at various locations around the country. Their website is http://rockthedat.com/

 

The carving instruction is really good. You get introduced to a bunch of different techniques...all the instructors will have different tips and tricks so you're bound to find a new techniques that will work for you.

 

Unfortunately their cross-Canada weekend is happening right now so if you're not from Alberta you're out of luck for that one. If you're from Alberta there is also one more course running next weekend (Oct 22-23) before the Nov 2011 DAT sitting. There may be more happening before the Feb exam, but they haven't got any dates posted yet, but keep checking their website or email them at info[at]rockthedat.com

Im form Montreal and i know about the Rock the Dat but its not comming to montreal! Oh well, I did like 3 soaps now Igetting better, it's just that they break too mucj and thats why I wanted to see maybe I'm not doing something right... But anyways I will keep carving Thank you all for the info!

At university of Montreal they do look for the carving from what i learned of a friend who is in the program already! I think that I only need a little bit of practice ! im not that bad I hope I ll get there

There is a FANFREAKINTASTIC lol video on youtube. It's in 12 parts or something. The guy shows how to soap carve for the dat in a very detailed manner. It's fantastic. Just go to youtube and type in soap carving dat. It was just recently put up, so you may not have seen it.
