irate69
Hello everyone. I am applying to both UofT and Western (the only schools accepting In. students). I am in my last year and my GPA avg for UofT (first 3 years) is 3.86 and 88% for Western. I got AA-21 and PAT-20. Please could you honestly say me something about my chances? Thank you very much!!! bunoftruth
Your DAT scores are fine, but you'll most likely need to up that GPA to get an interview at UofT and Western. Hello everyone. I am an international student and applying to both UofT and Western (the only schools accepting In. students). I am in my last year at UofT and my GPA avg for UofT (first 3 years) is 3.66 and 84% for Western. I got AA-21 and PAT-20. Please could you honestly say me something about my chances? zap_man99
i also thought the GPA for international students was lower-they are a different applicant pool for western and U of T
bunoftruth
I thought the avg for international students is a bit lower, isn't it? It is, but... "It should be noted that the 190 domestic applicants invited for an interview had a GPA of at least 3.75 and the 10 international applicants invited for an interview had a GPA of at least 3.65." So it IS possible, but you know how realistic these minimum GPAs are... If you're in your fourth year, you only use your best two years out of your previous three to determine your GPA for UofT For Western, I'm not entirely sure. It says 84.60% cutoff for the interview on their website. I think this is a cutoff and not an average... and since they only put up one cutoff, it seems that it's for both international and domestic applicants. However, it's best to find out directly from the school. UPDATE: classmate told me that the admissions lady told her last year that the gpa requirements were the exact same for international applicants as they were for domestic applicants.... irate69
I think if you are in your fourth year, all the first 3 years are considered in the calculation of your GPA. They only look 4th year when you graduate and it should be above 3.0. Correct me if I am wrong? It is, but... They only look 4th year when you graduate and it should be above 3.0. Correct me if I am wrong? if we're talking about UofT, they don't look at your current year (just don't get below 3.0 after you get the acceptance, and apparently this has never happened before lol). Applicants currently in their fourth year are the first ones to be able to drop their worst academic year (1st or 2nd year, not 3rd), meaning that they only look at the best 2 out of the 3 years they have already completed. Applicants currently in their third year don't have this option as they have only completed 2 years prior to this. As far as I know, average GPA over two years is looked at for applicants in their third or fourth year. If you're currently in your fifth year, they look at your best 3 out of 4 (can drop 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year, not 4th) If you're currently in your sixth year, they look at your best 4 out of 5, etc (can drop 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year, not 5th) At least, that's how it has always been... phy241
The RC cutoff for interview for western has been 18 for the past few years, I doubt it'll change this year, so you should be able to get one in my opinion. However, keep in mind that they decide the cutoff based on the competitiveness of the applicant pool, so there is always a chance of it changing as well. my reading was
