zenith92
Hi, I'd like to quickly confirm one thing: In order to drop a year with the lowest GPA, is it true that a student must have taken a minimum of 30 credits every year of his/her undergraduate for 4+ years? Thank you!
ssg8
I don't think UBC worries about the minimum number of credits, but I'm not positive.
zenith92
Oh, never mind. I just checked on the website and it says: " Q. Which years are used to calculate the grade point average? A. The overall GPA is calculated on all university level courses. For students who have completed 4 or more years, we will drop your worst year as long as it consists of at least 24 credits and is not your most recent year." Does this 24 credits include summer year or just strictly fall+winter season?
MaVerick01
If it helps you at all, I did my undergrad in 5 years: 1st: 30 credits 2nd: 24 credits 3rd: 27 credits 3rd Summer: 3 credits 4th: 18 credits 5th: 18 credits As far as I can tell, UBC dropped my worst year (1st year)

I do not believe that they even include summer classes in the GPA calculation, but I can't confirm this 100%
realtime9
oh wow, but how come you only took 18 units after 3rd year?? don't some schools require you to have taken a full-year (30)?
reddishh
I don't think UBC care about it, but I know most schools do..
MaVerick01
UBC didn't care, but yes, some schools do. Just check their website, they're usually pretty open about that kind of information.

I think UBC, UofT, Western, and UofA do care if you took full-course or not

zap_man99
western does (will penalize if you dont), U of A doesnt (like 2-3 people took their pre-reqs then did 3 courses per semester and theyre in dent now) U of T doesnt i dont think but i could be wrong and UBC does but i could be wrong again

I'm not 100% sure though
