A "Fail" in my transcripts

How much does having a F hurt?

 

I am going to fourth year and have a 85+ cgpa. I plan on applying next year for the graduating class of 2018, after working for a year. It is quite unfortunate for me in that I do have a F from my second year. Why? I showed up to the exam an hour late. The course was only 2 credits so its weight overall is relatively insignificant. I retook the course the summer after and achieved a 90%.

You'll be alright, a lot of schools eliminate a few of your lowest marks or take most recent 2 years or best 2 years or something. As long as you're good with mcat, references and sketch your average is good enough to get in
