ellorie
I considered going at psychotherapy from another angle - psychology, SW, counseling. I can still see myself doing those things, but I think that I will most prefer to go at it through psychiatry and be able to prescribe.
lost__in__space
Astronaut. Actually, I should have listed astronaut too (but didn't because it's still med releated).... but as crazy a dream this may be... I always wanted to be the flight surgeon aboard a mission. They are normally both an engineer and a medical doctor, which I will be once I am done my program :-)
A-Stark
I'll say astronaut too, though I'm with you - it needn't be an *alternative* to medicine.

NLengr
Actually, I should have listed astronaut too (but didn't because it's still med releated).... but as crazy a dream this may be... I always wanted to be the flight surgeon aboard a mission. They are normally both an engineer and a medical doctor, which I will be once I am done my program :-) I'm already an engineer and MD. I need to add pilot to the list....Oh and a new crew vehicle needs to be developed. With no shuttles, there is no capacity in the West to launch crews. As a note, missions on the shuttle weren't flown with flight surgeons in particular. They had "Mission Specialists" which were pilots and command crew, and "Payload specialists" which were usually science specialists associated with conducting experiments. I'd also add fighter pilot to the list. I'd drop medicine in a heartbeat if I got the chance to do that.
