Cadavers in dental school

Do dental students work with Cadavers like in medical schools? I am referring to D.D.S programs ie Western, U of T, etc.

 

If so, do we get to dissect them?

I believe at UWO you use pro-sections (pre-cut cadavers) while you do the dissection at UofT.

dentall is right, you do cadaver dissections at UofT, but I'm not sure about UWO.

 

Interestingly, some med schools don't do cadaver dissections lol (according to a med friend of mine)

Pro-sected seems like the way to go for dentists.

 

Does U of T actually do full-body anatomy, not just head-and-neck? Seems kinda pointless.

I actually like doing dissections on Cadavers.... I think at least. I hope there e at least prosections at UWO.

yup full body dissections are done at UofT..even though you may not need it when you get into practice, anatomy learned through dissection gives a better visual of how everything is layered. also, you do need to know body anatomy for the boards i think.

Go to their website an look up the first year course list. If there's gross anatomy then yes. If there is only head and neck, then no.

Dissections at UofT were a great experience I'm glad to have had.
