Birdy
My university offers only one course in biochemistry, it is one semester with lab. UOttawa's prereqs state biochemistry without lab. As part of my degree, I'll be taking a full year general chemistry, one semester Biochem (with lab) and one semester orgo. I was under the impression that this would fulfil the requirements for UOttawa But will my Biochem course not count because it has a lab? In that case I'd need to take a full year of orgo, which I'm considering doing anyway as I may consider applying to UofA as well (still not sure about it.) Belle_MD
As always talk to admissions but as long as you have labs in the courses which u Ottawa specifically requires a lab then you are fine. I don't think it matters that your biochem had a lab so long as you did the biochem...
Legion
When they say without lab, they mean a laboratory component is not necessary, as far as I understand. This is because some intro biochems don't have a lab component and some do, depending on the University you are attending.

I was worried it was because different content was covered in a labless class. I'll email them to confirm that.
KMMD
I am almost 100% sure that's fine... I went to uOttawa and their biochem has a mandatory lab component - wasn't a problem when I applied to their med school
