scores for june 21st come out today

Felt like I wanted to barf when bringing up my scores from 6/21. That test was so hard!

I got a 10 VR/ 9 PS/ Q/ 10 BS . . . disappointed I couldn't break the "30" barrier but somehow relieved I didn't get an even lower score. (This was my first time writing, with a non-existent university science background; my last physics and chem was in hs and I'd never taken organic. And the BS section was ridiculous).

Do I have a shot at Mac and Calgary maybe? (GPA 3.97).

I have personal connections to Nova Scotia- do you think applying to Dal with a low mcat would be a waste?

I am in the SWOMEN area, but would this score also disqualify me from UWO?

Help appreciated!!!

Note: I do have a seat reserved to retake on Sept 1. I think I would be somewhat but not significantly better prepared by then (due to work and travel in August . . .)

Unless your connection to Nova Scotia is that you are a resident there, then your score doesn't qualify for Dalhousie as their OOP cut-off is a 30 on the MCAT. Also if you re-write again in September that score will be released to late for this years application cycle for Dalhousie. Best of luck with the other schools this year

that scares me.. Weren't you a grad student in biology or something? lol

Cell and Molecular Biology Specialist. I only have an undergraduate degree from UofT. Never did grad.

I didn't do well in Bio. I usually scored 11-12 in Bio when I wrote my e-mcats.

Additionally, I scored 12-13 in PS and 7-8 in VR lol.

Writing= never really practiced aside from going through prompts and thinking of examples.

You are my new inspiration for VR. Congrats on the score!

If you have one year that meets the criteria, you can apply and interview conditionally if you are willing to do an extra year.
Extra year of undergrad?! I don't think I have it in me lol.

Thanks bro. Took a lot of studying and praying.

Good stuff on the MCAT :) I'm gonna need to borrow that VR score :D

As IP, you have a pretty good shot at UT, Mac, Queens, and possibly Ottawa. I don't think going back another year is worth it just to add ONE more school in your bag. But that's just my opinion :)

Good luck man.

Wow congratz trojan!

I was doing some forum searching on how I could improve verbal and found this thread

http://premed101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61499

and then this one right after with your post! lol

Question - did you eventually end up scoring 11s in verbal on practice tests? I notice I'm having pretty much the same difficulties you had in April. Have any general advice?? :(

I never broke a 10 on practice. Only got a 9 once. I stopped doing e-mcat verbals 2 weeks before the actual test date.

I'm already getting quite a load of PMs asking for help and I feel bad as I don't know what to say. English is my 5th language, but I lived here for 12 years, and I hated reading books for leisure. If someone who enjoys reading, would probably be in lead.

During the exam, I simply read the verbal passage slow enough to fully understand and answer the questions rather quickly. Would spend about 4-6 minutes reading and 2-4 minutes answering questions. Furthermore, you get a crazy adrenaline rush during the exam which kinda helps. I remember I could hear my internal carotid arteries pulsing like a motherf***er.

During prep time, I would try to read the passage quickly and remember nearly nothing or not understand the passage. I fixed this by applying more time to reading the passage since I prefer taking my time to read. Next came the part where I had to become confident in answering the questions a bit quicker. Took a while for me to be confident in my answers and moving on.

I prayed every day before and after the exam for a decent MCAT score. I was praying for a 9 at best, and I was helped with an 11. I don't want to sound preachy, but I really believe I didn't do this alone.

I'm sorry that I cannot steer the hopefuls to the right direction with this. I found out that MCAT verbal is a journey nearly everyone must take alone.

For those who have already written it and are waiting, make yourself busy. I started a hackintosh project with a G5 case and finished building it in 1.5 weeks. Then I started to play soccer intensely. You literally can't do anything to make your score better. Worrying or getting depressed won't change your score so simply live your life as it may.

I felt like crap all day today, and when I got a tweet from AAMC saying that scores are out, I literally froze in front of the patient and couldn't think straight.

Hopefully this sheds some light to those who have PM'ed me.

Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Do you think there are interview chances? The 36Q was so much

better than expected, was hoping for a 31 lol.

cGPA 3.81

best 2 years 3.92

weighted formula for U of T (drop 3 lowest credits) 3.94

volunteering, extracurriculars, shadowing, NSERC research this summer,

going into 4th year

will apply across Canada, do you think there's a chance here?

do you think extra applications to the states are needed?

would love some advice, thanks so much!
