Should I Rewrite?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi, I just wrote my Dat this november and got the following

21 bio.

22 chem.

22 TS

21 AA

19 RC

18 PAT

Is the RC score competitive for western and would it and the PAT score be a little on the low side? Would it be better for me to rewrite?

Thanks a lot for any advice :)

I have very similar scores!

AA 21

PAT 18

RC 21

I think the 18 is pretty low for UfT. Everyone I know who got in (2 years ago) had at least 21. So I’m definitely thinking of re-writing. But this is my first time applying so I’m not too sure myself.

Would you mind sharing your GPA? I think if your GPA’s amazing, then you’d definitely have a shot!

RC should be ok for western but PAT might be on a little low side for U of T :( oh how I hated those PAT questions! I would recommend you to rewrite to improve your PAT score but other than that this is a great DAT score! Good luck!

heyy Parachute!

My gpa should be around a 3.92. I really have no idea how these scores work and all the factors that come into play !

That's pretty competitive for UfT! I think you have a chance at getting an interview! But I'm in the same boat as you so my judgement is as good as your's.

Hey guys, need some advice.....

I'm contemplating whether or not to write my DAT again this Feb, I am currently registered to write it, but my classes this term are much more demanding. My 2 yr average if my marks stay consistent will be 89%. I'm IP for USask. My DAT scores are as follows:

RC-22

AA-21

PAT-20

MDT-15 :(

Is it worth it for me to rewrite or better to spend time on marks..

Thanks in advance for all the advice and support :)

There is actually a very simple solution! Schools won't accept the Feb DAT, so let this application cycle play out. If you get interviews, awesome. If you don't get interviews (which would be surprising), think about rewriting next November. Honestly, your scores put you in a good position for both IP and OOP interviews, so don't worry too much.

In my opinion if you haven't studied for the feb DAT which is in 10 days then perhaps it's best if you focus on your school and get good grades and study in the summer to write the November one.

Ahhhh well that's a whole other ball game! Your stats put you at "upper middle class" with respect to other applicants, so you should just work on killing the interview. The DAT only counts for 15% of your application, and there's no guarantee you'll improve. Bail on the DAT, focus on keeping your marks up.

wait a minute ... are you worried about the SASK stats? if so those scores are irrelevant as averages because they do "Total" of your scores...including PAT, carving, reading and TS i believe so in that case you need form what i was told over 80 to be competitive. As for western I think you are fine as well as TO other than your PAT score.

I think for now your RC is good for Western, though the AA is right around the average. Don't worry too much about your PAT too much for UofT. My friend had ~3.9 GPA and 20 PAT, ~20 AA and still got in at UofT. It's all about that interview =)
