A discussion regarding flaws in current medical research/EBM

I think the medical community is more aware of this than we let on, the problem being that there's a "backlog" of poorly done things that need to be made right. That'll take time.

 

Considering how long it takes a clinical trial for example to be funded, conducted, then published, it only makes sense that it will take time for the purported positive effects of clinical trial registration to reduce publication bias. If I'm not mistaken, there is a push to register observational studies now too.

 

What I dislike about this coming to light is the backlash towards doctors and the profession, and complementary providers (naturopaths, homeopaths, chiropractors) capitalizing on the bad press.
