medusername Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 Hi, I know many similar questions were already asked before but I would greatly appreciate your valuable feedback on any of the following questions. 1) I am in my second year (York - Kin major) and I didn't take full course load in my 1st year. However, I am taking a full course load now and will hopefully continue doing so. Would this put me in a disadvantage for US med schools? 2) My first year GPA is on the lower side (3.6). I was considering doing a 5th year of undergrad to help me increase my GPA (if needed). Would you recommend it? How would it be viewed by US med schools? And how would they calculate my GPA? 3) I was wondering what courses do US med schools consider to be science? I know they use Physics, Math, Chem and Bio as science. But in course descriptions (at my Uni) they include this phrase " Note: This course does not count for science credit." meaning that many Kin courses (that don't include that phrase) are Science courses. Would US schools consider them being science? 4) I also know US schools need English credit! Which of the courses would they consider to be English? 5) Lastly, please provide me with any feedback as to which other EC's I should do in future years. Currently I am: In 2 leadership positions at my college; volunteer in hospital; volunteer in a lab; do 0 credit practicum in a different lab, I also volunteered in other hospitals in past. Any feedback would be great!!! Thanks for reading through
