future_doc
Your grades need to be assessed by WES (World Education Services). You do not need biology. Generally speaking, med schools look at MCAT, GPA and your volunteering and extra-curricular activities to determine whether you demonstrated academic excellence carrying a full course load and active citizenship showing leadership, compassion, critical and ethical thinking, etc. Stellar candidates are routinely rejected every year as there are far more excellent applicants than seats available. On average, it takes 3 years of applying, longer.
hossein.fth
I've checked the average accepted GPA by Medical Schools in Canada mine is not even close to that average, so it seems I should start from the beginning what do you recommend? 3 year or 4 year programs? I'm living in Vancouver any hint which degree is better for me? Thanks
future_doc
Start over taking a program that interests you, thereby maximizing your chances to excel. Take a full course load.
hossein.fth
I didn't get it! how about prerequisites ?
future_doc
You need to check the prerequisites for each med school of potential interest to ensure you are covered. Also, you will need to do MCAT. Most schools in Ontario don't really have serious prereqs Ottawa does.
rmorelan
I didn't get it! how about prerequisites ? You would be surprised if you are not from Canada how few of those there actually are. Many schools have none at all - the logic is simply medical school in of itself will teach you medicine so all they really want to know is whether you are smart and hard working enough to study a subject well. Go to OMSAS and grab the application manual. There is a page there for all the Ontario schools. Ones outside of Ontario you can go to the particular schools website as well. What you are hoping to do will take some planning but can be done. Ask away with the questions - we will hopefully be able to help getting you on the path to be organized
