totallyawesome
I had to transfer to a university closer to home so I could commute because of medical reasons this semester. Since I was taking 2 year long courses that wouldn't transfer, only 4 courses transferred. I really would like to be able to take an increased course load this semester but I don't think I could handle the stress at this point. I don't even know if, for health reasons, I should be taking 5 courses right now. I know U of O and a couple others will still give me a fair shake if I make it up in the summer but am I doomed for the others? I know this has been asked countless times(I saw the search results :X) but I really did have to leave because of documented medical reasons. Will I be given some sort of forgiveness? And, those reasons were, yes, psychological and chronic. If I reveal the nature of the reasons, will I be labelled as 'that crazy girl' by the admissions committee? future_doc
As it is documented, you are on safe ground.
totallyawesome
I think I just turned religious. Thank you for being the bearer of amazing news!!!! As long as I catch up within a year, do you think I'll be fine to only take 4 courses this semester?

As long as I catch up within a year, do you think I'll be fine to only take 4 courses this semester? Some schools won't count the year but that is just the single year. Ottawa as you mention will allow you make this up in the summer. TO will consider your request to maintain the use of the wGPA policy - it is kind of a black box as to how that works as they won't tell us the rules or ever report the results of a request - but I like to hope they consider this stuff reasonably and we have some reasons to think that is true. Western is pretty strict but again is a single year for them. Queens and Mac just take everything - we can go through other schools outside of Ontario as well (never to overly focus on just my home province). Really a single year like this for good reason won't hurt you that much - it is a minor set back where recovery is quite possible
TheBoss
I know U of O and a couple others will still give me a fair shake if I make it up in the summer but am I doomed for the others? Doomed? Absolutely not. Not having a full courseload this year isn't optimal, but as long as you have full courseload in other years (and good grades in those years), it shouldn't be much of a setback. totallyawesome
Hey. Do you know how the whole medical documentation would work? Would I get a psych to send something to omsas when it's time to apply?
