Anatomy summer course in the gta

Hockeytalk

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have received an interview invite for a school in the states, but it is contingent on my completing an anatomy course with a lab component before june 30th. Unfortunately I am still finishing up a full course load at mcmaster and am unable to switch into an anatomy course now.

As far as what I have looked up so far in terms of summer anatomy courses:

u of t will not finish before june 30th

ryerson has no lab

athabasca has no lab

I dont think york has posted their summer schedule yet, and and historical summer schedules seem impossible to find.

It is not the end of the world since it is only one school, however I was wondering if anyone knows of a summer anatomy course with lab that I can complete before june 30th in the gta

Thanks

tldr anyone know of a summer anatomy course with lab that I can complete before june 30th 2013

Does a histology-type anatomy course count? Last summer UWO offered Anatomy 3309 - Mammalian Histology via Distance Studies. UWO intersession courses are finished before the end of June. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if they will also offer Anatomy 3319 - Systemic Human Anatomy via online Distance Studies this year, as well, because they started offering it online during the regular Fall/Winter term. The summer course info should be online at http://www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca/PTCalendars.html as of Feb 1.

Oh so you haven't taken the first half of anatomy? Man, that complicates matters because it's another thing to not have a prerequisite cleared for this 2nd half of anatomy (HTH SCI 2FF3 - I am assuming?)

Depending on your faculty, you'd have to speak with Dr Wainman, Dr Ball or Dr Belbeck to explore the possibility of getting the 2F03 prerequisite waived (tall order, but worth a try). Plus, as mentioned, you have to ask for the Registrar's Office for a special permission to enroll in this course past the drop/add deadline

I was thinking more about kin 1YY3 since the basic material in 1Y03 has been covered in a bunch of my other courses. I did ask around on Friday and everyone told me I would be exceptionally lucky to get into kin 1YY3 or hthsci 2FF3.

The school lists:

4.0 semester hours of anatomy lecture with lab

Please request an interview date only if you will be able to complete all of the prerequisites by June 30, 2013. We make no exemptions from or exceptions to these prerequisites.

I can't fulfill the lab component online.

York's summer anatomy is definitely manageable, and assuming it's in the same term as it was last summer, it starts May 6th and ends on June 14th.

So I figured this is the course from York I would need

Do you know if there is a summer course timetable or when one might be released? It seems like I need to be a York student and login to get any more information.

Thanks

Both of those courses include an online lab. "COURSE OFFERED THROUGH WIMBA LIVE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM: LIVE LECTURES M, T, TH, F 10-11 AM; LIVE LABS M, W 12-3 PM. ATTENDANCE FOR LIVE LECTURES/ LABS NOT MANDATORY. ALL MATERIAL IS RECORDED FOR ACCESSIBILITY OUTSIDE OF LIVE TIMES. REQUIRES HEADSET, MICROPHONE AND HIGH SPEED INTERNET."

I'm in online 3319 (systemic human) now, and trust me, to my dismay, there is certainly a lab. I don't think 3319 adds up to 4 hours a week in the regular semester though - it's 3.5. 3309 (histology) is 5 hours a week in the regular semester (and 10 hours a week during intersession based on what I posted above).
