pizzapizza
Fellow out of province students, where are you planning on staying for the weekend of your interview? Can any UBCers give some insight into where we could stay? Decent hotels close to campus? B&Bs? Safe alleyways to pitch a tent in? Hope everyone's interview prep is going well *your* interview... clearly my English needs some work...
BAMFtastic
I am just going to get a hotel for the nights I am in town. I requested to stay with a resident but nobody answered. I have heard of something called "couchsurfing.org" or something like that. It might be worth looking up
page_matrix
Have a quick question about the 2 passport photos we need to bring: Did you guys actually get passport photos taken?
bee23
Nope, going to one of those photo booth things in the mall works!
optimism101
Nah, I just used an old (well, not old, but already existing) photo, and am printing it to what are hopefully the correct dimensions. By the way, does anyone know what those dimensions are? According to the government of Canada, passport photos should be 2'' wide x 2 3/4 '' long, so I printed mine in this size and they are quite obviously way too big. So now I'm just going to approximate to the actual size of the photo in my passport, but an actual number would be nice to have. BTW - link to gov. webpage about passport photo size http://www.ppt.gc.ca/info/photos.aspx

technicity
They don't need to be passport photos specifically, I believe they just specified passport-style last year. I printed my own but I printed it to the same size as the passport specifications, with a similar head size to their guidelines and ran into no issues. I used Photoshop to size it correctly, Microsoft Word would do in a pinch too... I don't think they're super picky (I'm smiling in mine - not with teeth), as long as you're recognizable and the photo isn't dark/blurry and on a light background. Printing on photo paper is probably a good idea.
