A.K.E.
Hey! Does anyone know the approximately when UofA Denistry Interview Invites come out I know the website says by the end of February but that only gives students 10 days to prepare as the interviews this year are going to be held on March 9th. Thanks!!
dreambig1918
Last year I received my invite on Feb 16th. So they gave us approx 3 weeks to prepare. But if you are expecting an invite you might as well start preparing now!
A.K.E.
Thank you for your reply that helps! I'm hoping I get an interview but I have a lot of people who said they will help me prepare but i just don't want to waste their time if I don't get one are they any gpa or dat cut offs other than than the min 3.0 and 15 DAT posted on their website that you know of? dreambig1918
I'm not positive. Realistically, to be competitive, I would say you need a 3.6 or higher. But yes anything below 15 (besides science) on the DAT will not get you an interview.

A.K.E.
Has anyone heard anything back from UofA yet?? I know UofA med said they were going to send out invites on Feb 20th but that only gives Dent applicants 2 weeks to prepare for the interview! schatzli
I have a feeling it will be on Friday... If last year it was the day before Reading Week, I think there is a good chance it will be the same this year.
A.K.E.
that makes sense but last year it was the Thursday before reading week Feb

It's definitely a tight time frame. If you're confident about your stats, you might as well start preparing for interviews already.

dreambig1918
just got an invite, im OOP i was just wondering if anyone new how many OOP get invites and for how many spots? http://www.dentistry.ualberta.ca/ProgramsAdmissions/Dentistry/DDSOverview/AdmissionStatisticsDDS.aspx I don't think anyone knows the exact number of OOP students are interviewed and I don't think U of A reserves any spots for OOP students. Pretty sure it depends entirely on your stats. OOP students just need to meet a higher standard I think
aravis
just got an invite, im OOP i was just wondering if anyone new how many OOP get invites and for how many spots? Maximum 3 spots for OOP. But don't be discouraged! A lot of OOP don't end up applying because they think the chances are so low and a lot of OOP don't accept because they're accepted elsewhere. lahopeful
Do all the invites come out at once?? If so, I got rejected. Sigh congrats to everyone that got one!
azila
Do all the invites come out at once?? If so, I got rejected. Sigh congrats to everyone that got one! Remember that the email usually gets sent to your bear tracks, not your regular email, in case you haven't checked there. I'm pretty sure they let you know whether you get an interview or not. dimi
Would you mind sharing your stats? Sure wGPA 3.93 (lowest year dropped) RC 22 PAT 23 Carving- 15 Didn't think I'd get an interview cuz of my carving to be honest but i jusst made the cutoff and looks like it didnt screw me over lol. The website says the DAT score they consider is a sum of all 3 so I guess my RC/PAT bring up the total sum a fair bit
Dentkid
Hey, I just wanted to know if anyone is aware wether they send out all interviews for dentistry on the same day or not? Also, do they send you a letter telling that you didn't get an interview, and for those who got an interview is there anything significant in you're bear tracks application status that has changed since you applied. For example under mine there is "decision pending", is it any different under yours?

schatzli
Nothing changed on beartracks after I was invited, still says "Decision Pending". And yes, invites were sent to the ualberta email. Hope this helps!

alberta187
Anyone know how many invites were sent out? Last year it was 96, but this year some of my friends who got invites last year didn't this year. That means either the field is tougher, or just less invites were sent out. Thats actually a really good question I think someone would need to call and ask that to get an answer. If you find out please post it
zap_man99
i doubt they would send less invites out. 1 spot/3 interviews is already pretty low for invites. (im not sure though) Could be your friends were on the lower end of the spectrum for invites (not sure what their stats are like though.

That means either the field is tougher, or just less invites were sent out. Yeah same here, it doesn't make sense. I am pretty surprised because, not only were my friends applying with better stats than last year but I too didn't get one, yet I was confident that I was competitive enough to at least get an interview. I guess we will all find out tomorrow morning !
