trojjanhorse
just wondering if i should have my hopes up or not since i have no research. anyone heard of anyone getting interviewed/accepted with no resaerch? i searched the acceptance/interviews thread and couldn't find anyone who doesn't have research experience nowadays? It's almost a norm to have some sort of research exposure in undergrad.
burgs
Actually there are people in our class that have no research experience. Especially people with no science degrees.
burgs
I even know people with science degrees who chose not to do a thesis. Don't get me wrong research is very good, however it is not required.
Organeer
Actually there are people in our class that have no research experience. Especially people with no science degrees. But might those people with no science degrees have research in their field though? Research in sociology, economics, etc. Where they may even have some form of publication that's not on pubmed or even peer reviewed
ellorie
I got in. Science degree, no research, zip nada zilch, no thesis, no lab volunteering.
burgs
They might. But I actually don't know anyone who does. People come from all sorts of backgrounds to get to med school. Of course there's the cookie cutter undergrad science students with high gpas and research BUT there's a lot of people with tons of other experiences and backgrounds. Apixaban85
Research is definitely not a prerequisite for getting into UofT However, as you may expect, there are a lot of people in the class who have done research of some sort (undergrad or grad). Saying that, there are also people who have not done any research but may excel in another field
Philtrum
If you do research for the sake of space filling, and show and tell..then prepare to get ripped and eaten at any school interview. That goes for any other extra curricular activity too..do stuff you like. if you dont like it, dont do it.
